Lisa Concepcion-Elm
Lisa was born and raised on the beautiful island of Guam. As a Chamorro Native, she embraces her culture and community and continues to share her stories she has learned from her elders to the younger generation. She stands strongly for equitable access to education especially for our Pacific Islander students and their families.
She resides in the Port Orchard community with her husband and son. Lisa enjoys hosting family gatherings and also leading a healthy lifestyle with exercise and good eating habits. She shares her lifestyle journey with many people to promote self-care, happiness, and positivity.
Lisa moved to Washington in 1998 to advance her educational degree and also to be with family. She is Math Specialist at West Hills STEM Academy in Bremerton School District. She has over 20 years teaching experience in public schools. She has taught many years in the elementary level. Lisa has a Bachelor of Elementary Education and a Masters in Curriculum Instruction with emphasis in Reading and Parental Involvement. Lisa was also an Instructional Coach for the district, she worked mostly with administration and staff with Best Instructional Practices and Equitable Access in the classroom. She was also the district DoDEA STEM coordinator who organized and coordinated Math Bast STEM and Summer STEM Camp.
Most recently, Lisa was named 2024 Curriculum Associates Extraordinary Educator. She has demonstrated academic excellence in Math with her students and has presented innovative ways to teaching. This is a huge honor for her and it opens more doors for Lisa to continue her journey to ensure our students have equitable access in education.
Lisa is so grateful and honored to be a VOPIN Board Member. She will continue to stand strong to support our Pacific Islander community. VOPIN is a well needed organization in all schools. She was once that kid who moved to a strange place from an island and did not know where to go and what to do.
